Debt Disclosure Project is a research publisher. We do not sell debt relief, we do not generate leads, and we do not want your financial details. This policy describes the small amount of information we do handle and what we do with it.
Our tools run in your browser and send us nothing. We collect analytics about pages, not people. If you email us or use the contact form, we keep that message so we can reply to it.
The tools collect nothing
The Cost Calculator and the Debt Navigator run entirely in your browser. Balances, interest rates, income answers, and credit tier selections are processed on your device and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else.
No email address is required to see results. There is no gated result screen, no save-your-progress account, and no handoff to a provider at the end.
What we do collect
Information you send us
When you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address, and whatever you write, plus any organization or document link you choose to include. We use it to review the message and correction. We do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not share your message with any company named in it.
Retention
Correction requests are kept indefinitely as part of the public correction record, without your personal details.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our servers and analytics receive standard technical data when a page loads: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, the pages you view, and timestamps. We use this to understand which pages are read and to keep the site working.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary and analytics cookies. Strictly necessary cookies keep the site functioning and cannot be turned off. Analytics cookies measure aggregate website traffic and usage patterns without identifying individual visitors.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party trackers that build a profile of you across other sites.
What we never do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with debt relief companies, credit counseling agencies, attorneys, or lead buyers.
Who we share data with
Only service providers that operate the site on our behalf, and only what they need:
- WPEngine, for site hosting
- Google Analytics, for aggregate traffic measurement
Each is bound by contract to use the data only to provide the service. We also disclose information if required by law, valid legal process, or to protect the rights and safety of people or the site.
Your rights
If you are in California
Under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA you may request to know what personal information we hold about you, request its deletion, request correction of inaccurate information, and opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the right stands. We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
If you are in the EU, UK, or another region with comparable law
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of your personal data, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Our legal bases are legitimate interest for site analytics and security, and consent where consent is required for cookies.

Children
This site is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn we have, we delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information we hold, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other sites
Our provider records link to filings, regulators, and provider websites. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site under someone else’s policy. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information, and we encourage you to read their policies, particularly on any site that asks for your financial details.
