Terms of Use
EFFECTIVE DATE
Effective September 1, 2026.
These terms cover using debtdisclosureproject.org. They are short because the site is simple: we publish research, you read it, and no money changes hands between us. By using the site you agree to what follows.
What this site is
Debt Disclosure Project is a research publisher. We compile public records about debt relief companies, credit counseling agencies, and bankruptcy resources, and we publish free tools that model the cost of each option.
What this site is not
We are not a financial advisor, a credit counseling agency, a debt settlement company, a debt collector, a lender, or a law firm. Nothing here is financial, legal, or tax advice, and reading this site does not create a professional relationship of any kind between us.
We do not evaluate your situation, recommend a provider, or tell you which option to take. Debt decisions turn on your income, assets, state law, and specific creditors, and none of that is visible to us. Before you act, talk to a qualified professional who can see all of it.
About the tools
The Cost Calculator and the Debt Navigator produce estimates from stated public assumptions, listed in full on each tool page. Those assumptions are averages drawn from published sources, not terms available to you.
An estimate is not a quote, an offer, an approval, or a prediction. Your actual cost, timeline, and eligibility will differ, sometimes substantially. Do not treat a number from this site as a commitment from anyone.
About the records
Provider records are compiled from primary public sources and carry the date they were compiled. Public filings can be delayed, amended, or wrong at the source, and a company can change its fees the day after a record is verified. A record describes what the documents said on the date shown, and nothing more.
A blank field means the figure was not compiled. It does not mean the figure is zero.
We limit regulatory history to actions with an adjudicated outcome. We do not summarize pending litigation for any company.
We make a real effort to get this right, and we correct errors when they are shown to us. We do not warrant that every field is accurate, current, or complete.
Corrections
If something is wrong, tell us and include the document. We correct sourced errors, publish what changed, and date it. We do not remove an accurate, sourced field because the company it describes objects to it.
Links to other sites
We link to filings, regulators, and provider websites so you can check our work. We do not control those sites, we do not endorse them, and we are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information. A link is a citation, not a recommendation.
What you send us
When you send a correction, a document, or a message, you grant us permission to use it to verify and correct our records, and to reference the correction publicly without naming you. Do not send us anything confidential, privileged, or that you do not have the right to share.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to disrupt the site, gain unauthorized access to it, scrape it at a rate that degrades it for others, or use it to harass any person or company. Do not use this site to build a lead list.
No warranty
The site is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error free, or that every figure is accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Debt Disclosure Project is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any financial loss, arising from your use of this site or from any decision you make in reliance on it. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
Changes
We may update these terms. Changes are posted here with a new effective date, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept them.
